In Part I, the five main faults in the region around the Levant were discussed: the Red Sea spreading ridge and its associated triple point, the Dead Sea transform fault, the Zagros suture, the Anatolian strike-slip fault (actually two near parallel faults), and the Aegean subduction zone. Hi all, I wont keep you long!

As some of you may have noticed there is a bit of an issue (intermittent for some, constant for others) around the commenting interface on the site. I have been in touch with the developers, and they are aware of the issue however, they have suggested turning off the social plugin that allows you to log in via Google/facebook/Twitter/Wordpress accounts.

As a consequence of this, you will see the comment box change. Please do not be alarmed, this is a planned change and it doesnt mean we’ve been hacked!

We would recommend that you register for a Volcanocafe account (here) so that your details are saved and noone can steal your username etc.

If you run into any issues with the commenting, concerns or someone has stolen a username you have previously used, then let us know (via email) we will see what we can do to remedy the situation.

PS. This popup should only show once, but if it keeps showing let me know via email above and I will see what’s up.

PPS this may have triggered the Dugeon Troll to be extra vigilant, which will require us to manually release… please be patient
